About Hypena conscitalis Walker

Hypena conscitalis Walker has a wingspan of approximately 20 to 25 millimeters. Its forewings are much broader, with a less oblique outer margin and slight raised tufts. A grey fascia is present on the costal area of the forewings, and a black speck can be found at the end of the cell. The oblique line is positioned further from the base, it is slightly curved, and a more prominent, curved grey line lies beyond it. The larvae of this species feed on Desmodium intortum, a member of the Fabaceae family. This species is distributed across Africa from Senegal to South Africa, as well as in South and South-East Asia, Australia, and several Pacific and Indian Ocean islands including Sri Lanka.
