About Hylotelephium sieboldii (Regel) H.Ohba
Hylotelephium sieboldii, also known by the synonym Sedum sieboldii, is commonly called October stonecrop, Siebold's stonecrop, Siebold's sedum, or October daphne. It is a species of flowering plant in the Crassulaceae family, native to Japan. This trailing deciduous perennial grows up to 10 cm (4 in) tall and 20 cm (8 in) wide. It produces round, glaucous leaves arranged in whorls of three around its delicate stems. Its hot-pink flowers bloom in autumn. The specific epithet sieboldii honors Philipp Franz von Siebold, a prominent 19th-century German plant collector. This plant needs some protection from low winter temperatures, and it is commonly cultivated as a houseplant or grown in alpine gardens. The cultivar 'Misebaya-nakafu' has variegated green and cream leaves, and has been awarded the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.
