About Hylarana erythraea (Schlegel, 1837)
Male Hylarana erythraea reach a snout–vent length of 30–45 mm (1.2–1.8 in), while females grow to 50–75 mm (2.0–3.0 in). Tadpoles of this species can reach up to 36 mm (1.4 in) in total length. Hylarana erythraea has smooth skin that is bright green on the upper surface and sides of the body, and its tympanum is clearly distinct. In terms of distribution and ecology, native populations of H. erythraea are found in Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. This species can be found at elevations up to 1200 meters above sea level, and introduced populations are established on Sulawesi and in the Philippines. Frogs similar to H. erythraea from northeastern India and adjacent regions, which were previously classified as part of this species, are now recognized as the separate species Hylarana tytleri. The natural habitats of Hylarana erythraea include subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, freshwater lakes, intermittent freshwater lakes, freshwater marshes, intermittent freshwater marshes, rural gardens, heavily degraded former forest, irrigated land, seasonally flooded agricultural land, and areas of introduced vegetation.
