About Hyla chinensis Günther, 1858
The common Chinese tree frog, scientifically named Hyla chinensis Günther, 1858, also goes by the common names common Chinese treetoad and Chinese tree toad. It is a frog species that belongs to the family Hylidae. This species is found in southeastern and eastern China, as well as Taiwan. There is a single recorded sighting from Vietnam, but it is unclear if the recorded individual belongs to this species or to Hyla annectans. Hyla chinensis is a small frog, with a snout–vent length ranging from 25–33 mm (0.98–1.30 in). It lives in trees and shrubs within forests, and also occupies agricultural landscapes including cultivated rice fields, ponds, and corn bushes. The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has classified Hyla chinensis as a species of least concern, though it can still be negatively impacted by habitat loss.
