About Hygrophorus chrysodon (Batsch) Fr.
The fruit bodies of Hygrophorus chrysodon (Batsch) Fr. are white, sometimes with a faint yellow tint. The caps grow to between 4 and 14 centimetres (1+1โ2โ5+1โ2 inches) across, and the gills are subdecurrent to decurrent. The stalk is 3โ10 cm long. The flesh is soft and white, with a taste that ranges from mild to bitter. The spore print is white. The species occurs throughout the Northern Hemisphere, growing on the ground among moss, under conifers or other hardwood trees. It is edible, but has a bland flavor.
