About Hydrophyllum virginianum L.

Hydrophyllum virginianum L. is a herbaceous perennial plant. It spreads via rhizomes to form large colonies in wooded areas, and can also reproduce and spread through seeds. Seedlings typically emerge in early to mid-spring. This species produces blue, white, or purple flowers that bloom from mid to late spring. Flowers that are exposed to direct sunlight bleach quickly. Newly grown leaves of Hydrophyllum virginianum are usually solid green; white spots develop on the leaves as they age, and these spots later disappear in early summer.
