Hydrophyllum macrophyllum Nutt., commonly called hairy waterleaf or largeleaf waterleaf, is classified in the genus Hydrophyllum of the family Hydrophyllaceae. This species is native to the eastern United States, where it occurs primarily in the Midwest and Upper South. Its natural habitat is forests that have mesic, rocky, calcareous soil. It is a perennial plant that bears cream-colored flowers in late spring.
