About Hydrophis coggeri (Kharin, 1984)

Hydrophis coggeri, commonly called the slender-necked sea snake or Cogger's sea snake, is a species of venomous marine snake that belongs to the subfamily Hydrophiinae within the family Elapidae. This species is native to marine waters around western Australia and the southern Pacific Ocean. Specifically, H. coggeri has been recorded in marine waters around Fiji, the Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia, and western Australia. Its type locality is located in Fiji. The preferred natural habitats of H. coggeri are coral reefs and seagrass beds, and it can be found at depths up to 45 meters (148 feet). H. coggeri is viviparous, meaning it gives birth to live young. One recorded gravid female of this species was found to carry three embryos.
