Hydrolea ovata Nutt. ex Choisy is a species of flowering plant that has the common names ovate false fiddleleaf and blue waterleaf. It is native to the southeastern United States. It is a rhizomatous perennial herb with spiny stems that can reach up to 2 feet in height. Its spiny, alternately arranged leaves have an oval shape, and its flowers are blue. This is a wetland species that grows near ponds, ditches, and other wet sites, and it is used in wetland restoration projects.
