About Hydrocotyle umbellata L.

Hydrocotyle umbellata L. consists of aquatic or submerged herbs that either float or creep, and have slightly succulent texture. Its leaves are peltate and orbicular, measuring 0.5 to 7.5 cm in diameter, with crenate margins and 8 to 20 shallow lobes. The petiole is thin, ranging in length from 0.5 to 40 cm. Inflorescences take the form of simple umbels that hold 10 to 60 flowers; occasionally, a small number of peduncles proliferate and enclose whorls of flowers on slender pedicels. Peduncles are usually slightly longer than the plant's leaves. The fruit is ellipsoid, 1 to 3 mm in diameter, and has prominent, obtuse ribs.
