Hydrellia tritici Coquillett, 1903, commonly called the black pasture fly or shore fly, is an insect species native to Australia. It occurs predominantly in southeastern Australia and New Zealand. Individual specimens have also been found in northeastern Australia, the United States, and France, and the species has been introduced to Hawaii. In New Zealand, Hydrellia tritici can be found across both of the country’s mainland islands.
