Hydrangea chinensis Maxim., which has the synonym Hydrangea pottingeri, is a species of flowering plant belonging to the family Hydrangeaceae. It is a shrub native to eastern India (Arunachal Pradesh), Myanmar, southeastern China (Anhui, Fujian, Guangxi, Hunan, Jiangxi, and Zhejiang), and Taiwan. It grows at elevations between 300 and 2,000 metres (980 to 6,560 ft) in sparse to dense temperate and subtropical forests, found in valleys, on mountain tops, and on mountain slopes.
