About Hyalopterus pruni (Geoffroy, 1762)

Description: Wingless (apterous) adult Hyalopterus pruni have a body length between approximately 1.5 and 2.6 mm (0.059 to 0.102 inches). These small to medium-sized aphids have a narrow oval body shape, a conical tail, and relatively short antennae that reach half the body length. Their body color is pale bluish green, and their eyes are red. Some individuals within a colony may show a pinkish coloration, called the "red form". The aphids are covered in a mealy white wax, which can give them a gray or light green appearance instead. Distribution: This species has a cosmopolitan distribution.
