About Hosta sieboldiana (Hook.) Engl.
Hosta sieboldiana (Hook.) Engl., commonly known as Siebold's plantain lily, is a hosta species that is native to Japan. One putative variety of this species, Hosta sieboldiana var. elegans, is called the giant blue hosta, and it has received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. The award has also been granted to Hosta fortunei var. aureomarginata, the gold-edged plantain lily, which is a putative variety of a synonym of Hosta sieboldiana. Three Hosta sieboldiana cultivars — 'Blue Angel', 'Blue Mammoth', and 'Olive Bailey Langdon' — have also earned the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
