About Homoeolabus analis (J.C.W.Illiger, 1794)

Homoeolabus analis, commonly called the leaf-rolling weevil or oak leaf rolling weevil, is a species of leaf-rolling weevil in the beetle family Attelabidae. The leaf roll made by an Attelabidae beetle is called a nidus (plural forms are niduses or nidi), from the Latin word for 'nest'. The process of building this leaf roll is called "nidification". The main function of the leaf roll is to protect the beetle's eggs while they develop. This species is found in North America. It is frequently preyed on by the Thief Weevil, which is an obligate egg predator and nest thief.
