Holcosus septemlineatus, scientifically named by Duméril in 1851, is commonly known as the seven-lined ameiva, or as lagartija terrestre de cola azul in Spanish. It is a species of lizard belonging to the family Teiidae. This species is native to northwestern South America. Within its geographic range, H. septemlineatus occurs in the western lowlands of Ecuador and Colombia. In Ecuador, it lives in regions that the World Wide Fund for Nature categorizes as these bioregions: Ecuadorian dry forests, Western Ecuador moist forests, Northwestern Andean montane forests, Guayaquil flooded grasslands, South American Pacific mangroves, and Manabí mangroves.
