About Holconia immanis (L.Koch, 1867)
Holconia immanis is a species of huntsman spider. It has two common names: the Sydney huntsman spider and the giant banded huntsman. This spider is found in eastern Australia. For many years, it was previously classified under the name Isopeda immanis. It is one of the largest species of huntsman spider in Australia. Adult individuals can reach a body length of 4.5 cm, and their outstretched legs can measure 16 cm across. Ludwig Carl Christian Koch first described this spider in 1867 under the name Delena immanis, from a specimen originally collected in Brisbane. Henry Roughton Hogg, a British amateur arachnologist, later moved this species into the genus Isopeda.
