About Hogna lenta (Hentz, 1844)
Hogna lenta (Hentz, 1844) is a species of wolf spider that belongs to the family Lycosidae. It is native to the southeastern United States, and occurs most notably in Florida. This spider can live in a wide range of different habitats, but is most commonly found in sandy sediment. Burrows made by Hogna lenta are vertical shafts, and these burrows sometimes have a turret. The spiders may use a thick layer of silk mixed with sediment to form a trap door for the burrow.
