About Histurgops ruficauda Reichenow, 1887

The rufous-tailed weaver, whose scientific name is Histurgops ruficauda, is a species of songbird found in Tanzania. This bird belongs to the weaver family Ploceidae. However, after Old World sparrows were split from true weavers, many authors reclassified this species into the Old World sparrow family Passeridae. This species is the only member placed in the monotypic genus Histurgops. It is an endemic breeding species of Tanzania, though vagrant individuals have also been recorded in Kenya.
