Hirundo angolensis Bocage, 1868 measures 15 cm in length, and weighs 16 to 19 grams. Its forehead, throat, and upper breast are covered in deep rufous-chestnut plumage. The crown and upperparts are shiny steel-blue. Flight and tail feathers are black; tail feathers have large white patches (called windows). This species occurs in Angola, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia.
