About Hipparchia parisatis (Kollar, 1849)
This species is scientifically named Hipparchia parisatis (Kollar, 1849). For males, the upperside of the wings is dark Vandyke brown. The preapical costa, the lower half of the forewing termen (narrowly), and the hindwing termen (more broadly) are bluish grey; this area is crossed by dark veins, with brown markings at the vein apices. The forewing has a preapical black spot with a white pupil, a solid unmarked black spot in interspace 2, and two small white dots between these spots. The hindwing has a subanal black spot centered with white. The underside of the wings is pale sepia brown, dusted with many fine white streaks; only the discal and tornal areas of the forewing lack these streaks. Both wings are crossed by a prominent, strongly sinuous broad white discal band, which is bordered on the inner side by a dark brown line. Narrow brown subterminal and terminal bands also cross both wings. The round black spots match those on the upperside, but are more distinct and ringed with yellow. The hindwing has an additional ocellus in interspace 5. The antennae, head, thorax, and abdomen match the color of the upper side of the wings, and are paler on the underside. Males have a sex mark consisting of a large dark brown patch of specialized scales on the basal half of the forewing. Females are similar to males, but have broader greyish-white marginal borders.
