About Hieracium villosum Jacq.

Hieracium villosum Jacq. is a plant species that grows 30 to 45 centimeters (12 to 18 inches) tall. It produces dense basal rosettes of silver-grey, simple, oblong to lanceolate woolly leaves. These leaves measure around 4.5 to 8.5 centimeters (1.8 to 3.3 inches) in length. The many-stellate bright yellow flowers of this species reach 4 to 5 centimeters (1.6 to 2.0 inches) across, and grow on stems covered in white hairs. The flowering period of Hieracium villosum Jacq. runs from July to August. This species is native to France, Italy, Central Europe, the Balkan Peninsula, Romania, and Russia. It grows in mountain regions, in calcareous stony and grassy locations, at elevations between 1,400 and 2,500 meters (4,600 and 8,200 feet) above sea level.
