About Hieracium albiflorum Hook.
Hieracium albiflorum Hook., commonly called white hawkweed or white-flowered hawkweed, is a common and widespread plant species in the Asteraceae family. This species occurs across western North America, ranging from Alaska and the Northwest Territories south to the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora, and east to Manitoba and the Black Hills of South Dakota. There have been reported populations in Québec and Wisconsin, but these individuals are most likely waifs or introduced plants. Hieracium albiflorum grows in forests and woodlands at low to moderate elevations. It resembles its relative the common dandelion, but differs in that it produces more than one flower head per plant; it can sometimes produce 50 or more flower heads arranged in a flat-topped cluster. Each flower head holds 6 to 25 ray flowers, which are white, unlike the yellow ray flowers seen in most closely related species, and it produces no disc flowers at all.
