About Hibbertia stricta R.Br. ex DC.
Hibbertia stricta R.Br. ex DC. is an upright shrub that typically grows 0.8 to 1.3 metres (2 feet 7 inches to 4 feet 3 inches) tall. It has hairy foliage and ridged branchlets. Its leaves are linear, mostly 6โ12 mm (0.24โ0.47 in) long and 0.4โ0.8 mm (0.016โ0.031 in) wide, growing on a petiole 0.2โ1.1 mm (0.0079โ0.0433 in) long. Flowers are arranged singly, mostly on the ends of short side-branches, and are more or less sessile. The five sepals are narrowly egg-shaped, densely hairy on their outer surface, 4.5โ7.0 mm (0.18โ0.28 in) long and joined at the base. The two outer sepals are slightly shorter than the other three inner sepals. The petals are yellow, 4.0โ6.5 mm (0.16โ0.26 in) long and about 3 mm (0.12 in) wide. Six or seven stamens are arranged around two carpels, each of which contains four ovules. Flowering occurs from September to February. This species grows on sandy soil in low-lying areas between Sydney and Jervis Bay. Subspecies furculata of Hibbertia stricta is only known from two populations, one located near Nowra and the other near Loftus.
