About Hibbertia diffusa R.Br.
Hibbertia diffusa R.Br., commonly called wedge guinea flower, is a prostrate to low-lying shrub. It typically grows up to 30 centimetres (12 inches) in height, and usually has hairless (glabrous) stems. Its leaves are egg-shaped to lance-shaped, with the narrower end positioned toward the base, and measure 4โ30 mm (0.16โ1.18 in) long and 3โ9 mm (0.12โ0.35 in) wide, borne on a short petiole. The flowers are stalkless (sessile), and are mostly arranged on the ends of branchlets. Each flower has five sepals 6โ8 mm (0.24โ0.31 in) long, and five bright yellow petals 7โ10 mm (0.28โ0.39 in) long. Between twenty and twenty-five stamens are arranged in groups around two or three hairless carpels. Flowering takes place from September to November. This species grows in open forest on the coast and ranges of south-eastern Queensland, New South Wales, and far north-eastern Victoria.
