About Hibbertia commutata Steud.
Hibbertia commutata Steud. is an erect to sprawling, many-branched shrub that typically grows 10 to 60 centimetres (3.9 to 23.6 inches) tall, and sometimes reaches up to 1 metre (3 feet 3 inches) in height. It has sparsely hairy foliage. Its leaves are narrow elliptic to narrow egg-shaped, with the narrower end positioned towards the base, and measure 6 to 40 millimetres (0.24 to 1.57 inches) long by 2 to 11 millimetres (0.079 to 0.433 inches) wide. Leaf edges are sometimes slightly wavy. The flowers are sessile and 10 to 20 millimetres (0.39 to 0.79 inches) in diameter, with silky-hairy sepals. Fifteen to thirty stamens grow alternating with three glabrous carpels. Flowering occurs between July and November. This species of hibbertia grows in lateritic soils and is widely distributed in the south-west of Western Australia, where it occurs in the Avon Wheatbelt, Esperance Plains, Jarrah Forest, Swan Coastal Plain and Warren biogeographic regions.
