About Hibbertia australis N.A.Wakef.
Hibbertia australis is an erect to spreading shrub that typically grows up to 60 cm (24 in) tall. Its young branchlets are covered in star-shaped hairs. The leaves of this species are linear, 4โ16 mm (0.16โ0.63 in) long and 1โ2 mm (0.039โ0.079 in) wide, and are either sessile or borne on a petiole up to 0.7 mm (0.028 in) long. Flowers are arranged at the ends of branchlets or on short side shoots, growing on peduncles 5โ18 mm (0.20โ0.71 in) long. One or two linear to lance-shaped bracts, 3โ4 mm (0.12โ0.16 in) long, are present at the base of the peduncle. The sepals are 6โ7.5 mm (0.24โ0.30 in) long, and the petals are yellow and 6โ9 mm (0.24โ0.35 in) long. Four to nine stamens are arranged in a single cluster on one side of the felty-hairy carpels. Flowering occurs between September and December. This species of hibbertia most commonly grows in heath or woodland. It occurs in southern and western Victoria, and extends west as far as the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
