About Heuchera parvifolia Nutt. ex Torr. & A.Gray
Heuchera parvifolia Nutt. ex Torr. & A.Gray is a flowering plant species in the saxifrage family. It has two common names: littleleaf alumroot and common alumroot. This species is native to California and the Interior West of the United States, where it grows mainly on rocky ledges located on slopes and canyon walls. Heuchera parvifolia is a variable species, with many proposed varieties that are not widely accepted by botanists. Its leaves are shaped from ovate to circular cordate, and can grow up to roughly 6 centimeters long. It blooms between May and September, producing a panicle 20 to 75 centimeters long that holds whitish, yellowish, or greenish flowers. Its specific epithet parvifolia translates to "small-leaved". Heuchera parvifolia is a distinct species from the similarly named Heuchera parviflora that grows in the eastern United States.
