About Heteropoda jugulans (L.Koch, 1876)
Heteropoda jugulans has a brown body with several distinct markings: a black X-shaped marking on its head, black chevron-shaped markings on the main body, and often a black V-shaped marking on the underside of the abdomen. Its body and head are roughly equal in size. Adult males and females are similar in overall body size, but males have longer legs than females. This is a common species of Heteropoda found in South East Queensland, Australia, including the suburban Brisbane area. It has been recorded as far north as Cooktown and Cape Tribulation in Queensland. It is also found in New South Wales, ranging as far south as Wollongong.
