About Heteroclinus perspicillatus (Valenciennes, 1836)

Heteroclinus perspicillatus, commonly known as the common weedfish, is a species of clinid fish. It is native to southern Australia, where it occurs in seagrass beds and rocky reefs, particularly those with kelp cover, at depths up to 10 metres (33 feet). This species reaches a maximum total length of 20 centimetres (7.9 inches). The common weedfish is ovoviviparous: its young develop inside eggs that hatch within the female, and the species gives birth to well-developed, live larvae.
