About Hemigymnus sexfasciatus (Rüppell, 1835)
Hemigymnus sexfasciatus, commonly called the Red Sea thicklip wrasse, is a species of marine ray-finned fish that belongs to the wrasse family, Labridae. This species is endemic to the Red Sea. Existing records of this fish found outside the Red Sea, specifically in the Gulf of Aden and around Socotra, need further verification. It can be found in sheltered coral reef areas, as well as sandy areas with rubble, at depths ranging from 1 to 20 metres (3.3 to 65.6 ft).
