About Hemigobius hoevenii (Bleeker, 1851)

Hemigobius hoevenii, commonly called the banded mulletgoby, is a species of goby. It is found in the western Indo-Pacific region, ranging from Thailand to New Guinea and northern Australia, and inhabits mangrove areas. This species' specific name most likely honors Dutch ichthyologist Jan van der Hoeven (1801–1868); Pieter Bleeker has named multiple other taxa after Hoeven as well.
