About Hemidactylus parvimaculatus Deraniyagala, 1953
Hemidactylus parvimaculatus, formally described by Deraniyagala in 1953, can reach a total length of 13 cm (5 inches). Its body is covered in numerous tubercles, and its tail has rings of small spines. The species has a base coloration ranging from light grey to tan, with dark blotches arranged in three rows along the back. Its belly is pinkish-cream. This gecko is native to Sri Lanka, southern India, the Comoro Islands' Moheli, the Maldives, and the Mascarene Islands, including Reunion, Mauritius, and Rodrigues. Introduced populations also exist in Bangkok, Thailand, and the southern United States. In Sri Lanka, Hemidactylus parvimaculatus has been recorded preying on Ramanella variegata frogs and insects, and the species is also known to be cannibalistic.
