About Heliotropium angiospermum Murray

Heliotropium angiospermum, commonly called scorpion's tail or scorpion-tail, is a flowering plant belonging to the genus Heliotropium and the family Heliotropiaceae. It is an annual or short-lived perennial plant that grows in arid lowland areas across Florida, Texas, Mexico, and various islands. Butterflies seek out its nectar, and the plant also provides food for bees and birds. Its stems end in scorpioid inflorescences. On some Caribbean islands, it is used for medicinal purposes. It can grow in rocky or sandy soil, and reaches up to 3 feet in height.
