About Heliothis adaucta Butler, 1878

This moth, originally treated as C. maritima Grasl. (which is also a synonym of spergulariae Led.), resembles dipsacea L., but differs in the following features: the apex of its forewing is more produced, its median shade is more oblique, and its outer fascia is straighter. The terminal segment of its palpi is blackish and lacks scaling. In the aberration ferruginea Spul., the forewing is suffused with fulvous, and the hindwing is a deeper yellow. The larva can present in three different color forms: either grey green with a fine dark dorsal line and broad dark lateral lines positioned above yellowish white spiracles; or reddish grey with two fine dark dorsal lines that lie close together; or bluish grey green with a black-brown lateral line. The wingspan of this species ranges from 30 to 36 mm.
