About Heliophanus hamifer Simon, 1886

Heliophanus hamifer is a species of jumping spider classified in the family Salticidae. Its common name is the Mozambican Heliophanus sunny jumping spider. This species is native to multiple African locations: Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, the Comoros, Mayotte, the Seychelles, and Madagascar. It has also been introduced to Brazil. Within South Africa, Heliophanus hamifer has only been recorded in Limpopo Province, specifically within Lekgalameetse Nature Reserve. Known specimens of this spider were collected through beating vegetation, sifting litter, and hand collecting. All collection took place in the Savanna Biome, at an altitude of 857 meters.
