About Helicopis gnidus (Fabricius, 1787)
Helicopis gnidus (Fabricius, 1787) has predominantly black upper wing surfaces. These wings feature a large orange region close to the body, followed by a broad white patch. The hindwings of this species bear iridescent patches also called "metalmarks", along with several long tails. This species is found in northern countries of South America, most commonly in Suriname, Brazil, Peru, and Colombia.
