About Heliconia psittacorum L.f.

Heliconia psittacorum L.f. can reach a height of 1 to 2 meters. Its leaves are shaped lanceolate to elliptical, and resemble banana leaves. This plant produces flowers that contain both male reproductive structures (anthers) and female reproductive structures (stigma and pistil), which makes it a monoecious angiosperm. Its inflorescence grows upright, and is made up of red bracts and pale-yellow, tubular-shaped flowers.
