Helianthemum canariense (Jacq.) Pers. is a short, densely branched shrub that reaches a maximum height of 25 cm (10 in). Its oval leaves measure 5โ€“10 mm (0.2โ€“0.4 in) long, and appear greyish because they are covered in a dense layer of short hairs. The pale yellow flowers of this species are approximately 1โ€“2 cm (0.4โ€“0.8 in) across. Helianthemum canariense is native to the Canary Islands, Western Sahara, and Morocco. Within the Canary Islands, it grows in dry areas on all islands, at altitudes up to 600 m (2,000 ft).
