About Helcogrammoides cunninghami (Smitt, 1898)

Cunningham's triplefin, with the scientific name Helcogrammoides cunninghami, is a species of triplefin blenny that belongs to the genus Helcogrammoides. Frederik Adam Smitt formally described this species in 1898. Smitt named the fish to honour Scottish naturalist Robert Oliver Cunningham (1841-1918), who collected specimens of this fish from Puerto Madryn in 1868 but could not identify the specimens. This species has been recorded in locations including Peru near Lima, Chile, Puerto Madryn in Argentina, and the Falkland Islands.
