The underside of its hindwing features a distinct row of red-orange spots running along the outer margin, but does not have the blue spot that is present in most other hairstreak species. This butterfly lives in a preferred range of habitats including brushy areas, thickets, overgrown fields, open woodlands, and streamsides.
