About Halichoeres nebulosus (Valenciennes, 1839)
The nebulous wrasse, scientifically named Halichoeres nebulosus (Valenciennes, 1839), is a species of wrasse that is native to the Indian Ocean and the western Pacific Ocean. Individuals of this species live in groups on reef flats, at depths between 1 metre and 40 metres, or 3.3 feet to 131.2 feet. The nebulous wrasse feeds on fish eggs and a range of benthic invertebrates, which includes crabs, sea urchins, ophiuroids, polychaetes, sponges, and mollusks. The species has variable coloration, that can span from brown to dark green. This wrasse can grow to a maximum total length of 12 centimetres, or 4.7 inches, and it is sold in the aquarium trade.
