About Halgerda batangas Carlson & Hoff, 2000
Halgerda batangas is a species of Halgerda nudibranch that belongs to a group of mostly white Halgerda species that have orange markings. This species is distinguished by a network of fine, solid red-orange lines covering its mantle. It has a white band running around the mantle that holds low, rounded tubercles capped with orange. The mantle tubercles of this species vary in size, ranging from small rounded bumps to tall, prominent structures. This species was first described from specimens collected in the Philippines. The holotype specimen, collected from Mactan Island, Cebu, measured 40 mm in length when alive. The paratype, collected from Anilao, Batangas, measured 35 mm when alive. Halgerda batangas occurs in the tropical western Pacific, and its confirmed distribution includes Indonesia, the Philippines, the Solomon Islands, Mabul, New Britain, Davao Gulf, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Sulawesi, the Great Barrier Reef, and Taiwan.
