About Haemodorum spicatum R.Br.

Haemodorum spicatum R.Br. has terete or elliptical leaves that measure 12 to 59 centimeters in length and 1 to 5 millimeters in width. Both the leaf margin and leaf surface are smooth, with no bristles or hairs present. Its smooth flower scape grows 65 to 77.5 centimeters long. The inflorescence is subtended by a bract 25 to 45 millimeters long, and bears several flowers on stems 2 to 2.5 millimeters long. The flowers themselves are 11 to 14 millimeters long, with a smooth, radially symmetrical perianth that is uniformly colored. The perianth can be yellow, red, reddish-brown, purple, black, brown, or yellowish brown, and has three distinct inner tepals and three outer tepals. There are three stamens arranged at a single level; the filaments are 1 to 1.2 millimeters long, and the anthers, which measure 2 to 2.7 millimeters long, do not have an appendage. The style is 10 to 12 millimeters long. This species flowers between October and January.
