Haemanthus humilis Jacq. is a perennial flowering geophyte that belongs to the genus Haemanthus. This species is native to South Africa, where it occurs in every province of the country. It is also found in Botswana and Lesotho. Two subspecies of Haemanthus humilis are currently recognized: Haemanthus humilis subsp. hirsutus (Baker) Snijman and Haemanthus humilis subsp. humilis.
