About Hadronyche modesta (Simon, 1891)

Hadronyche modesta, commonly called the Victorian funnel-web spider, is a smaller species when compared to other Australian funnel-web spiders. It shares similar coloration with most other Australian funnel-web spiders: it has a shiny black carapace, black to dark brown legs and chelicerae, and a matte abdomen with a maroon tinge. This spider is distributed in southeastern Australia, where its range extends from the area around Melbourne eastward through the Dandenong Ranges and into East Gippsland.
