About Habrosyne scripta (Gosse, 1840)
Habrosyne scripta, commonly known as the lettered habrosyne or scribe, is a moth species belonging to the family Drepanidae. It was first described by Philip Henry Gosse in 1840. This moth is distributed in southern Canada and the northern United States: its range extends from Labrador to Vancouver Island, reaches as far south as North Carolina and Mississippi in the Appalachians, Ozarks, and Rocky Mountains, and extends south to Arizona in the western part of its range. The wingspan of adult Habrosyne scripta measures 30 to 39 millimeters. Adult moths are active between May and August, and this species produces two generations each year. The larvae of this moth feed on the leaves of Rubus species, including black raspberry and purple-flowering raspberry.
