Gymnothorax unicolor, commonly known as the brown moray eel, is a species of moray eel. It was first formally named by Delaroche in 1809. This species is distributed in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. Within the eastern Atlantic Ocean, it occurs along the coast of Portugal, across all of Macaronesia's archipelagos, and around Ascension Island.
