The geometric moray, with the scientific name Gymnothorax griseus, is a species of moray eel belonging to the family Muraenidae. It is found throughout the western Indian Ocean, at depths of up to 40 meters. This eel can reach a maximum length of 65 centimeters. It is a host of the parasitic isopod species Ichthyoxenus puhi. In terms of coloration, the geometric moray is typically pale purple, white, or brownish, with a greyish head marked by distinct rows of black dots.
