About Gymnothorax castaneus (Jordan & Gilbert, 1883)

Gymnothorax castaneus, commonly known as the panamic green moray eel and the chestnut moray eel, is a large species of moray eel that lives in the Pacific Ocean. Its range extends from the Gulf of California to Ecuador, and it can also be found in the Galapagos Islands. This species grows to around 1.5 meters, which is equal to 4 feet 11 inches, in length. Its body color ranges from brown to brownish green. It inhabits areas near reefs and the surrounding connected waters, at depths between 3 and 36 meters, or 10 and 120 feet.
